The reopening of our Balkendra after-school program for area children was greeted with eager anticipation by the locals. The daily attendance has hovered between 80 & 105. The following pictures show various classes in session.

Structural repairs continue. The latest building to be fully upgraded is the Prafulla Kutir. The video below shows the building after repairs.

On 8-April-2022, sewing classes were started as a new charitable activity in Nirban Math. The video below shows the first activity (measuring and cutting) for these new classes.

Our Balkendra after-school for children re-opened on April 7, 2022, after almost 2 years of Covid imposed hibernation. This reopening day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the staff and teachers. The children were welcomed back to new school interiors which underwent major face-lift and upgrade during the intervening 2 years. A google search for Brahmajna Ma yields interesting results. Recently, a Facebook page dedicated to Brahmajna Ma's teachings appeared on the search list. It seems to be a para by para reproduction of select passages from the book Dhirenendra Nath Sen. The site also lists our official site on the page.

Brahmajna Ma's birth anniversary was once again celebrated with great fanfare on Mar 13, 2022. The whole program consisted of Puja, bhog, feeding of sanyasis, and devotional signing. The Trust recently made a donation of Rs 10,000 to a Second Sight associated hospital named Drishti Eye Care Hospital. Second Sight started by Dr. Lucy Mathen, provides eye restoring cataract surgery for roughly Rs 2000/surgery. If patients bring in a bag of recyclable material then the surgery is free. Since the Govt. of Jharkhand has officially allowed all schools to open, our Balkendra school will also open soon. Here is a video of the school building getting spruced up for the opening.

One of the buildings in Nirban badly needing extensive repair is Prafulla Kutir. Work has finally started on these repairs.

New high performance flood lights have been installed in both Nirban Math and Shanti Ashram. The camps is now well lit during evenings and nights. The following pictures show the new lights in operation. Even night repair work is possible with the new lights.

Balkendra is closed due to pandemic restrictions but the teachers have continued to prepare with guidance from the NMT team. On the occasion of 2020 Saraswati Puja, mosquito nets were distributed to local families through the generous donations from Dia, Ria, Pia and Deepon Sengupta. The first picture is of Situa receiving his net. All children were also given a snack packet on occasion of Saraswati Puja.

There was a concerted effort in 2021 to clean up the perimeter and the Math grounds to restore a cleaner look to the Math. Following are some pictures of the cleanup of the railway line side perimeter wall.

Supported by generous donations from members, the Math was able to feed the Math children several times during the year as part of our humanitarian efforts to combat the pandemic crisis. These pictures of the children being fed on different occasions.

Over the last 2 years, in response to the pandemic situation, the Trust has done several distributions dry provisions to the families of the Balkendra children. These distributions were made possible by generous donations from several people. The following pictures show the behind the scene work put in by the Math staff to procure, organize and distribute the provisions.

In 2021 an important initiative was completed, the replacement of old broken perimeter fencing with new stainless steel barbed wire fencing. This was necessary for the physical security of the properties. The pictures below show the materials as procured and contract workmen putting up the fencing around the whole property.

Blankets were given away in Dec 2021 to the children and staff through a generous donation from Sanjukta Sen & family in honor of Gautum Sen.

Republic Day 2022 was celebrated with typical fanfare and gusto in spite of the Covid restrictions. The children can be seen in their uniforms and new keds shoes supplied last year by the Trust. Besides the usual hoisting of the flag and singing of the national anthem, the children were all given snack packets to take away

On the occasion of 2022 Makar Sankranti, the temple staff celebrated the occasion by making various kinds of pithe, a traditional Bengali sweet dish.
